Pavilion 15-cs0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The laptop was sending HDMI signal to Sony Bravia KDL-55HX820.  Today it stopped.  I continually attempt to change display to Duplicate or Extend to no avail.  Continually reverts back to PC only.  PC tells me the latest driver is installed for the TV.  I can't turn on the port to display.  Tried plugging laptop into another Sony TV -- same issue.  TV senses the connection, no display from laptop.  I had performed a Windows upgrade a few days ago.  Don't believe that is the problem as the port worked yesterday; not today.

Hi! @Edz300

Have you tried checking with a different HDMI cable?

Have you selected the correct input source on the TV?

Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.

Try connecting the cable to a different HDMI port and check if the issue persists.

Also, connect the TV to a different PC and check if you are able to see any display.

Please uninstall graphics adapter from device manager and update the latest version of graphics driver and BIOS on the PC.

Go to windows desktop

Hold Windows key + Letter R key.

Run dialog box would open type devmgmt.msc

Device manager window will open.

Expand display adapter.

Right click and click uninstall.

Restart your PC and install the graphics driver.

Update the drivers on the PC using HP support assistant.

Yes, those are all obvious solutions I've tried before posting this issue.

Changed cables (3), tried alternate ports (any), two different TVs.

The most obvious test is to try with an older laptop where the connection DOES work as expected.

Two things:

a) The HDMI port on the HP worked just fine until a few days ago.

Then for some reason it stopped sending a signal.

The TV senses a connection, no signal from laptop.

b) I use the display button on the HP Pavilion 15-cs0xxx to change the display "Project"

     (see attached jpg)

HP-display-menu.jpg

I set it as I've done in the past.

Upon check it reverts back to PC Only.

As for the Display Adapter, I attempted update install of driver for Intel graphics card.
The report back is that it is the most recent driver.

Refer to 2nd jpg -- is this the driver you suggest to uninstall and reinstall?
Other than this, there are no other

Hi! @Edz300,

Thanks for the update.

It sounds like a hardware issue with the HDMI port.

I would suggest you contact HP support for service options.
