HP Laptop Touchpad and Wi-Fi Intermittently Freezing and Selecting Everything (Less than 1 Year Old)

Hello HP Community,

I am seeking assistance with my HP laptop, which is still within its 1-year limited warranty period, with approximately 2 months remaining. Recently, the system has started experiencing severe hardware-related problems that are making it difficult to use.

Symptoms:

  1. Touchpad Selection Loop:
The cursor frequently becomes stuck in click-and-drag mode. Even with a light touch or slight scrolling, it automatically selects paragraphs, highlights text across the screen, and sometimes drags application icons without my input.

  2. Simultaneous Wi-Fi Dropouts:
At the same time the touchpad freezes or starts behaving incorrectly, the Wi-Fi connection also drops. The Wi-Fi network adapter sometimes disappears from the system. I have to restart the laptop or reset the network adapter to restore the connection.

Because the touchpad and Wi-Fi problems occur at the same time, I am concerned that there may be an underlying hardware or motherboard-related issue.

I have already tried the following:

  • Hard restarting the laptop

  • Resetting Windows ClickLock settings

  • Updating Windows

  • Updating the drivers through HP Support Assistant

Unfortunately, the problem keeps returning after a few minutes of use.

Since the laptop is still under warranty, I would appreciate assistance in diagnosing the issue and, if necessary, escalating it to an authorized HP service center for warranty repair or replacement of the faulty hardware.

Thank you for your assistance.
