I AM NOT BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE THE BRIGHTNESS USING FN+BRIGHTNESS LOW HIGH KEY ON THE KEYBOARD . I WANT YOU TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE .

Meanwhile, you can try the below steps:

On HP notebooks, screen brightness is normally controlled by specific FN hotkeys (for example, FN+F2/F3, FN+F7/F8, FN+F9/F10 depending on the model). If these no longer change brightness, use the steps below.

Confirm the correct brightness hotkeys for your model

• Some thin clients/notebooks:
• Decrease brightness: fn+f2 or fn+f7 or fn+f9
• Increase brightness: fn+f3 or fn+f8 or fn+f10
  Check the icons printed on the top row of your keyboard, and use fn + the key with the sun/brightness icon.
   

Test fn key and other hotkeys

• Verify that the fn key itself works:
• Try other function combinations:
• fn+esc – should display system information.
• Fn+F4 – should switch the display between internal and external monitors.
• Fn+F3 – may initiate sleep on some models.
• If these hotkeys also do nothing:
• The HP hotkey/Quick Launch/keyboard driver or BIOS setting may be disabled or corrupted.

Adjust brightness via Windows to confirm it’s a hotkey issue

• Try to change brightness using the OS:
• In Windows:
• Right‑click the power/battery icon in the taskbar Power Options > Change plan settings > adjust Display brightness slider.
• Or use Settings > System > Display > Brightness slider (on newer Windows).
• If brightness changes from Windows but not from the keyboard, it’s almost certainly a hotkey/driver problem, not a backlight issue.

Check power management/hotkey settings

• On HP systems, hotkey behavior is closely tied to power options:
• Open Power Options:
• Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options (XP/Embedded) or Start > Control Panel > Power Options (Vista/Win7+).
• Ensure no custom scheme or vendor tool is disabling brightness hotkeys.
• Brightness hotkeys are documented as working by default and can be held down to adjust brightness incrementally.
