Was wondering if anyone out there can help....last week when attempting to open my laptop the right side hinge appears to be broken/frozen and is locking up. This is forcing the screen display bezel and the hinge cover  to separate from the touchscreen (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06941101.pdf page 19). As long as I don't attempt to open or close the screen the computer will continue to operate. If I do close and attempt to re-open the screen without supporting the bezel its going to crack the touch screen and then I'm going to have bigger problems than just replacing the screen hinges.

My questions are as follows:

I've looked online in several online vendor stores to try and locate the exact hinge required to mend this problem but haven't had too much success. Several vendors list hinges for HP 15 inch laptops (with vague specs) but most of the vendors I questioned responded that their hinges would not work on a touch screen. Anyone out there know if the part  number listed on page 20 for hinges L52009-001 can be bought anywhere online other than at a local HP store? Also, I'm overseas in Germany using a US Model in a foreign country so locating parts during COVID is not an easy task. I will however be stateside next week so if anyone is aware of a HP outlet or store in the northern VA or southern Maryland district I'm open to suggestions?

I've also looked at several options on YouTube for replacing HP hinges on touch screen on similar 15 inch PC's but my particular model is not available on YouTube. If anyone has completed this task before ..and and all advice is welcome. I think I can do this but obviously have some concerns over completely disassembling the screen and keyboard portion of the laptop ---- allot can go wrong!  Help....

Hi@Prionsias64,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and Display and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Sir,

Getting in contact with the HP is not an option given my geographical location. this is why I Posted these questions! I need to self fix this device =- besides economically it wouldnt be worth it to go through your tech staff. Can you confirm where I can purchase the hinge and if there's a video out there on how to disassemble and repair?
