Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have an HP 15-ef1082nr that has a bad screen and I'm trying to determine the correct replacement P/N for it. I purchased it in 2022 from Micro Center, and took it in the local store to see if one of the replacement screens they had would fit. They didn't have one in stock, but gave me the HP P/N L78714-001. I googled that P/N and found a screen that matched and have order it. It should arrive a couple of days. I also have gone to HP PartSurfer, entered the laptop's info and that is showing the same P/N for the display. Could have been where Micro Center got the info too.

Wanting to get a head start, I began removing the screen today. I have disassembled enough to expose the HP P/N on the back of the LCD, however, it's not the same P/N as what I was expecting. The P/N on the back of the display is L51625-JD3.

So I guess my question is, which is the correct P/N? The obvious answer is the one that's on the screen I'm removing, but why is there a difference between what HP (and Micro Center) is giving for the P/N versus what I'm actually removing? Are these the same screens, but just from a different manufacturer? I'm a bit confused...

I've ordered another screen using the L51625-JD3 as reference.

Hi,

Yes, as  I noted in the OP, HPPartSurfer produces L78714-001. Which is different than that P/N on the screen that I've removed (L51625-JD3).

which says  : There is no Where Used Products!

When I asked the supplier of the screen about the differences between the two P/Ns, he said it's the same screen, just a different P/N due to a difference in manufacturers. I've installed the L51625-JD3 and it's working perfectly.
