HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

Hello! Wondering if it is possible to have two external monitors (not including the laptop itself) with this laptop?

Currently have 1 external monitor hooked up through the 1 HDMI port. Hoping to add a second to have a true dual monitor setup.

Thanks!

Hi @RM_CPA,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your concern.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your HP 15-r018dx has only one HDMI port, so it doesn't natively support two external monitors. However, you can still achieve a dual-monitor setup using one of these methods:

You can use a USB to HDMI adapter to connect a second monitor through a USB port. Make sure the adapter supports extended display mode, not just mirroring. Plug in the adapter, install any required drivers, and configure your display settings.

Another option is to use a USB docking station, which can provide multiple display outputs like HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA. Connect the docking station to your USB 3.0 port, then attach both monitors to it. This is a more expensive but effective solution.

You can also use a DisplayLink adapter. Install the DisplayLink drivers on your laptop and connect the second monitor using a USB to HDMI or VGA adapter.

To set up dual monitors, right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, scroll down to Multiple displays, and choose Extend these displays. Adjust the monitor arrangement as needed.

If you want an affordable and easy solution, go for a USB to HDMI adapter. If you plan to expand your setup further, a docking station is a great investment.

Let me know if you need recommendations! 😊
