Hi everyone,
I'm using an HP 15s-fr2006TU laptop, and I've been facing a strange issue recently. Whenever I turn on the microphone — whether it's using WhatsApp voice messages, voice typing, voice recorder, or any app that accesses the mic — my laptop's display starts flickering like something which is unusable.
The flickering stops as soon as I stop using/turn off the microphone from settings.
I tried checking for malware, updating Windows, and restarting, but the issue persists. I also tried for uninstaling and reinstalling, updating the display and audio drivers but nothing helped. Ultimately reinstalled windows itself, but no use.
I have also attached a video clip for your reference.
Has anyone else faced this issue with this model or similar HP laptops? Could this be a driver conflict or hardware problem?
I'd appreciate any suggestions or fixes.
Thanks in advance!

- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
HP Support Assistant:

- You can download it from here.
Sometimes, power settings can affect the hardware performance:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Ensure you’re using a high-performance power plan.
Some applications use hardware acceleration which might cause issues:
In your web browser (Chrome as an example):
- Go to Settings > Advanced > System.
- Toggle off “Use hardware acceleration when available”.
In other applications:
- Look for settings related to hardware acceleration and try disabling them.
I hope this helps.
