How do I connect an HP Compaq LA2206x monitor to an HP Elitebook (intel vPRO17)? Is this compatible - yes/no? If so, what cord , etc. do I need? Please advise in elementary terms. Thank You.

You're very welcome.

According to the service manual for your notebook, chapter 2, page 7, it has an HDMI out port on the left side.

Maintenance and Service Guide

The HP Compaq LA2206x has 3 different inputs:  VGA, DVI and DisplayPort.

It doesn't have built in speakers.

So...you have two options:

Purchase a HDMI to Display port cable or a HDMI to DVI cable.

I'd probably go with the HDMI to Display port cable, but here are representative links to both kinds:

They come in different lengths.  These are 6' examples.

Amazon.com: Amazon Basics DisplayPort to HDMI Cable, Uni-Directional, 4K@30Hz, 1920x1200, 1080p, 6 f...

Amazon.com: Amazon Basics HDMI to DVI (Male) Adapter Cable, Bi-Directional 1080P, 6 ft/1.8 m, Gold-P...

What is the product number of your HP Elitebook?

To find the product number for your PC, click on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.

Type: System Information

The System information app should show up.

Run the app and the product number of your PC will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.
