Hi,

I have an HP Laptop 15-dy2073dx with the following specs below:

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎9/‎14/‎2022
OS build 22631.4169
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1034.0

I also have an HP usb-c g5 essential dock (72c71aa#aba) and 2 HP monitors that is connected by display ports. When I connect the USB-C cable to my laptop, the HP dock doesn't seem to connect my laptop to the HP monitors. I also tried using an HDMI cable from the HP dock to my laptop but that also doesn't work. Is there something that I am missing?

only by purchasing a new dock with DisplayLink technology (see it is LINK and not DisplayPort. These docks can transmit images through USB ports using software and hardware.

In the following link you can see the manufacturers of these docks.

Hi @RayHsu1015

The reason is that the laptop USB-C port is not compatible with DisplayPort, which is why it does not transmit images; that port is only for data transfer.

Thanks, the Display Ports and HDMI cables are connected from the monitors to the HP usb-c g5 essential dock (72c71aa#aba), and the dock then connects to my laptop with a USB-C cable. The monitors doesn't display using my personal laptop (HP Laptop 15-dy2073dx). However when connecting my work laptop (also an HP laptop) to the USB-C cable, then the monitors would work. Is my personal laptop just not compatible?

As I indicated, this model that you are asking about does not have a USB-C port compatible with DisplayPort. There are other HP models that do have the compatible port, but this model does not have it.

I get it, my laptop USB-C port cant transmit image. Is there anything I can do to make my laptop display image with this Docking station ( e.g. download a software or driver, etc?) or would I need to buy a new one?
