I am the owner of an HP ENVY Laptop 13 --Product Number: 8MX92AV
To give you context, it has never been dropped and nothing's every been spilled on it. This laptop does not leave my office--literally. It came apart all on it's own!
Last week, the rear hinge on my laptop separated so that every time I opened it, the right hinge stuck out. So in order to close it, I had to manually adjust the hinge to properly close it. It thereby made a distinct "clicking" sound each time I opened or closed the laptop. I also noticed the lower right corner where the screen is mounted began to separate as it was becoming unglued. All of these problems originated on the right side of the laptop.
Within 48 hours, opening it gently, my screen detached from the frame and split! I am at a total loss as to what to do. I'm currently using my backup 17.3 HP G72 which is well over a decade old and has never given me a single issue. I purchased this laptop in September 2020 and it is now worthless. Please help HP! I'm a loyal customer and I love my computer.

I have an HP model 17-by1971cl that has the same issue. In fact I have 4 of them and the problem started all on its own just as the other owners. What can be done to repair my laptops. I purchased them for family members and myself but all four are exhibiting the same issue. Please help! I too do like the use of my laptops but opening and closing is causing more and more damage to the base in the hinge area.
