HP ENVY x 360 convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP Envy x360 convertible. There is an issue with my notebook display. There are yellow spots on the entire screen. It started with top left and right corners of the screen and with the passage of the time it is getting worse.  These spots are more noticeable when the screen is black. I spent a lot of money on this laptop and it is annoying to see such issue on the laptop that was purchased few months ago. Please kindly let me know is it possible to fix this issue as my device is still under warranty.Screen.jpeg

Hi @goshi,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? I see from the post that you are having display issues on your HP notebook. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the Product number and the Operating system installed on the PC? (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...) http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Did you check for any damage on the PC?

Have you tried to update the drivers?

Have you checked if the issue persists even in the Bios screen?

In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the Notebook:

Step 1: Performing a hard reset

Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Use the steps in Performin...

Step 2: Connecting an external monitor to test the display

The notebook screen display might remain black when there is a corrupted graphics driver or a problem with the LCD display backlight. To test the display, attach an external monitor and restart the computer. Testing with an external display is helpful if the notebook display is black but you can hear sounds; such as fans, spinning drives, or beep tones that indicate the computer is operating.

Step 3: Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check for the display.

1. Turn off your computer
2. Make sure you have connected the power cable
3. Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the  F10 button repeatedly

Once you are in the BIOS, if the screen has yellow spots, it is likely a hardware failure. The next two steps may resolve the issue. The first one is to do a hard reset. I have included the document 'Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset'. The next and final step is to perform a BIOS update. I have included the information here for you 'Updating the BIOS' as well as updating the graphics card drivers from our HP Support website, using this link.

Please respond to this post with the details and the result of the troubleshooting for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

There is no damage on PC, all the drivers are uptodate and these spots are noticeable only on dark and black background. The BIOs screen is niether black nor dark therefore it doesnot leave spots of yellow areas.I read a lot of complaints of HP users on discussion board who are victims of backlight bleeding, and I am 100 percent sure that this is a hardware faluire.

Hi @goshi,

As I understand you are still having issues with the display, I would suggest you could try to Run a test on the video card from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

Depending on the test results, I would personally suggest you contact our Hp phone support for further assistance.

I bought a Notebook Envy 17 ce.. in mid-December 2019 and sent it directly to HP support due to Blacklight Bleeding. I got it back after about 10 days - unfortunately with exactly the same problem "BL" as before. The support reports back: For HP this is no defect, because this phenomenon only occurs in dark rooms. I find this remarkable. So if I work on the notebook in the evening  or just want to watch 1 movie, this is obviously not part of HP's intended activity. Unfortunately you have to assume when buying a HP notebook that Backlight Bleeding is present and that it will not be repaired.
