Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

My company laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G7) locks out USB-C video output due to security reasons, and I am attempting to connect my new HP S14 portable display as a second monitor. I ran the problem by our IT team, and they recommended I purchase a HDMI to USB-C converter. I purchased a HDMI (male component) to USB-C (female component) converter, with a 100W USB-C pass through. Unfortunately, the monitor still reads the USB-C signal as inactive.

I want to avoid purchasing another converter that will likely not provide power to the monitor, as well. Any recommendations on troubleshooting this issue?

Thanks,

JC

No, HDMI to USB-C won't have power, same as USB-C to HDMI. From its specs

It only has USB-C connector and USB-C on your machine is locked. I think you have no other route

Thank you, that's what I figured. Granted, the product I have in front of me is the j5 Create USB-C to HDMI cable with PD100W pass-through (https://en.j5create.com/products/jcc155g) supplies power to the monitor. However, it still displays the input as inactive, even though it's connected via the HDMI. Any clue why this would be? Thanks.
