Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a USB-C to HDMI (4k @60hz) cable to plug into my laptop and monitor. Unfortunately I only get 30hz which is really unpleasant to use, and a little jarring. I looked up the product (laptop) specifications and it doesn't specify what refresh rates and resolutions the USB-C port supports.

Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the cable is not compatible with your machine. The USB-C port on your machine is actually a  Thunderbolt™ 4 port. You can use HDMI 2.0 port which supports 4K @60Hz and use valuable Thunderbolt™ 4 port for other tasks.

Regards.

Turns out my monitor has 2 HDMI ports on the back (hard to see at an awkward angle) - one of which is older HDMI technology and I accidentally plugged the cable into that one. All good now and sorted, thanks for your response!
