Dear all!
I have an old HP Elitebook 840 G1 laptop and it is still functioning well.
My young daughter is using it for her school related tasks.
There is an issue with this laptop about its display resolution. In Windows 10 display setting, the highest resolution that i can support is 1600x900 (recommended).
I wonder
a) is this restriction of 1600x900 due to display panel itself? or
b) due to the display adapter which is an integrated Intel HD graphic? Furthermore, i do not know much RAM is allocated/available to this integrated Intel HD graphic. How to check this? In Windows device manager, i can only observe Graphics/display adapter is listed Intel HD Graphic Family. I also use CPU-Z application to check, it also only displayed as Intel HD Graphic Family (no further details). Probably is due to "integrated"?
I suppose my display is a 14 inch display (from what I have googled) : 14-inch diagonal LED-backlit HD+ anti-glare SVA flat (1600 x 900)
There is also another issue which is faded lines appeared on the screen (bcoz my daughter put some heavy textbooks on top before). Wondering if I can change the display to make it support 1920x1080 (if able to get a compatible screen with Elitebook 840 G1 from Aliexpress?Or I have to change both screen panel and the graphic card to support it?
Since the laptop is still in working mode, I am thinking there is no point to create more electronics waste to this world, and lets keep our world clean 🙂
Appreciate any kind soul to provide guidance.
Thank you very much.

Hi!
You are right. i have searched internet and from HP Elitebook 840 G1 service & maintenance manual, i saw there are 4 options as what you listed.
I believe mine current one is:
- 14-inch diagonal LED-backlit HD+ anti-glare SVA flat (1600 x 900) -> non-touch.
if I want upgrade to
14-inch diagonal LED-backlit FHD anti-glare UWVA slim (1920 x 1080)
will it have any compatibility issue and it can be supported by my machine (product code: G4Z82EC#AB4.
Thakn you!
