Hi guys,

Our company just gave us new laptops (HP elitebook 840 G6) and I'm trying to connect an external monitor using a USB-C to Displayport cable (yes, the external monitor is also HP and doesn't have HDMI input, just displayport).

Doing some research, in the quickspecs it seems USB-C supports thunderbolt, which should be? ok for video:

When I plug the monitor in, it is shown as USB 2.0 Billboard, so something's not right.

Any ideas or alternatives?

Thanks a million in advance!

Hi again.

Issue solved. The trouble seems to be the USB C to Displayport cable. We tested a different one and everything works fine. It seems the first we used has a faulty contact (if you press it tightly and hold it there, after one minute or so, the monitor comes back to life).

Sorry for the trouble and have a nice day :).
