HP Elitebook 840

Hello,

I have a HP Elitebook 840 G7 Notebook PC which is plugged into my docking station using USB-C, then from there into my monitor using a display port.

The monitor that Im using is the Samsung G9 49" widescreen.

Im having issues getting my elitebook to work consistently at the 5120x1440 resolution.

I can occasionally get it to work but im not sure what exactly how.  I have been able to get the 5120x1440 resolution to work if I install/uninstall the G9 drivers, reboot, mess with settings, plug in/unplug the cables over and over... it will sometimes work.  Once I'm able to get it display at that resolution it seems to work until I unplug the usb-C, which is problem since I work from my office several days a week.

After being in the office yesterday, I tried to get it to recognize my Samsung G9 monitor this morning and the max i can get is 2560x1440.

How I can consistently get the 5120x1440 display resolution to work?

Thanks

-b

The docking station is a small square cube, with a USB-C that connects to the laptop, two display ports and a couple usb ports.  The laptop is connected to the docking using the USB-C.  The docking station then connects to the monitor using one of the display ports.

The laptop also has a hdmi out.  If I use the hdmi to connect straight to the monitor bypassing the dock completely I can get 3840x1080.

Monitor is the samsung G9 49"
