HP Envy 14-1050ea WN967EA#ABU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I've had this good old (personal) HP Envy 1050ea laptop (Product No: WN967EA#ABU and Serial No: [edited]) for many moons and has been working perfectly fine up until now. I've recently upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Home edition and now cannot get the external AOC 2436Pwa monitor to work with this laptop. So before the upgrade or when I was on Windows 7, I could easily extend my display to this external AOC monitor with a VGA cable but post upgrade it doesn't even recognise/pick if the external AOC monitor is connected.

I remember upgrading to Windows 10 a while ago when it was made freely available by Microsoft and rolled back then too as it didn't identify this external AOC monitor. Unfortunately its still the case and I'm at a massive loss here for not able to connect to this external display.

I've a (work) Dell Latitude 5480 laptop on Windows 10 which connects fine to the external AOC monitor with a VGA cable. A firend suggested that if there's anyway of me getting the display drivers off this Dell laptop and installing it on my HP Envy Laptop? Not sure if its a great idea to start with? But then slowly running of options now as even AOC doesn't have drivers for this good 24" Full HD Monitor!

Hoping youll might be able to advice as I could really do with one. Happy to furnish additional details.

Thanks & Best Regards,

MJS

@javz21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the AOC monitor is not getting detected after upgrading to Windows 10.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you download and install the HP support assistant and it will automatically detect and install all the latest drivers available for your computer.

Here is how it is done.

Download link: https://www8.hp.com/in/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_in/en/any/psg/p...

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

  6. Perform any other update management actions as needed.

    • Postpone an update: Click Remind me, and then select a time preference.

    • Delete an available update: Click the Delete icon  to remove the update from the list and record it in the action log.

    • Review updates status: Click Action log below the list to view installed, postponed, or deleted updates.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
