HP ENVY 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-ep1000 (322X6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

i have a HP envy 15 laptop with intel core i7-11800H and RTX 3060 mobile. the first time i got this laptop both of the fan not working entirely but i got the solution by updating the bios. 2 months later the wifi 6 keep disconnected to every wifi i have and every wifi on cafe or office, its connected for a few minute then disconnected for a few second and connected again, but the issue almost gone now so i'm not worry any more. 8 months passed and i did not have any issue and all is well, until HP command center go into maintenance and this is the beginning of the biggest problem to the point i feel like i got scammed after buy this product.

In November 2023 HP command center went into maintenance and user cant use it anymore. HP command center let us control of the laptop fan behavior depends on what we choose such as Balanced, Cool, High Performance, Quiet. I usually use Balanced when not connected to AC adapter, Cool when Connected to AC adapter but with everyday task like browsing and office work, and use High Performance when i want to play a game or use rendering application such as Vray and Lumion. But when HP command center went into maintenance i cant choose any of that any when i play or rendering i can notice of how the gpu performance drop, usually i can game with 1080p full screen resolution and high settings without trouble at all or i can render an image in lumion like 1-3 minute for 1 image but after it went maintenance i when i game in 1080 the fps will drop and the lumion rendering took almost twice the time from before (3-6 minute for 1 image). I try to ask HP Support but the only answer i got is its either the gpu driver or hardware issue, so i did not took it in mind because it happen right after HP command center went into maintenance and it will be back like normal again after the maintenance done.

The maintenance done in January 2024, during 2 month when it still maintenance i experienced blue screen for the first time and it occur 3 or 4 times when i play game and use rendering app. Here i start to panic a little, because i have 3 HP laptop with different model and never experienced blue screen and this laptop cost me a lot because i need to save money during COVID for 2 Year! i never let my laptop dirty, fall or crashed, always update to newest driver and updates, always clean and delete unnecessary file and i even got a small desk usb fan to help the laptop surface cooler when i playing or rendering.

When the maintenance done and back on again like it used to, i use the High Performance mode and went straight to play a game, but to my surprise the fps drop and NOW STUTTERING like every 5 second for 1 second! i check with rendering app and also the fps drop and stuttering too while in editing mode. I checked the gpu temperature in task manager and it went into 87 almost 90 degree after 1 hour in use, i thought this must be dust covering the airflow and i was right. i open up the laptop and try to take the fan only without opening the heatsink but i cant because 1 screw is under the heatsink, what a wonderful idea to put 1 screw under the heatsink so user cant take the fan for cleaning... im impressed how the design manager approved it. so i opened the heatsink and while at it i repaste both gpu and cpu thermal paste with new one but let the thermal putty on vrm and such like it used to, clean the fan and heatsink fins and but eceryvthing back again. im happy because in idle or every day task both gpu and cpu temperature are now lower, BUT... it still the same when gaming and rendering even i use HWinfo64 and see the cpu core thermal throttling... the gpu too pass the thermal limit and went to 90-92 degree.

Here i thought i messed up the thermal pasting, so i teardown my laptop again buy the new thermal paste and apply them but the result still the same. i ask the HP support if i can replace the thermal putty with thermal pad instead and they said i can and so i buy new thermal pad, clean the thermal putty which is a pain, place the thermal pad and then boot the system. at idle and everyday task the temperature get lower again than before which is a relief, but when playing and rendering it become worse now it will stutter immediately. its heart breaking... it really is, i use half of my saving to buy those thermal paste and thermal pad and the result got worse. i try to undervolting my gpu and see no difference, i try to messing with nvidia control panel to change everything to off and see no difference, i try to lower my games graphic setting to lowest possible but keep resolution in 1080 and see no difference, all keep fps drop and stuttering.

then i stumbled upon a video to change the power management from 100 to 99, and it work for the cpu. now it never go into core thermal throttling anymore, but the gpu still the same. and i stumbled upon another video to use Honeywell PTM7950 as thermal paste subtitute and uprising ux pro thermal putty, i buy with them the the all money i have left and used it. while it do an outstanding job like when i playing the cpu never touch 90 degree in highest preset, BUT.........

The GPU still go into throttling when i game in 1080p resolution. and go beyond 87 degree but never touch 90 anymore. right now i play game in 720p even lower, yes i need to lower the resolution, antialiasing to fxaa at max or off on some game, anisotropic filtering to 1x or 2x at max. all that so that the gpu not throttling, its heartbreaking.

i buy this laptop with RTX 3060 in it so atleast i can play smoothly in 1080p resolution, but now even a rtx 3050 laptop can have higher preset and resolution than my laptop with only half the price.

So ask the hp support, and after 2 week of investigation they say it is a hardware issue... the gpu hardware issue.

its really is heartbreaking, i save up money during covid time for 2 year to buy the laptop i dream since 2020. but i feel like i got scammed, like i better buy a rtx 3050 or rtx 3050 ti laptop and i can save up money for better use.

some of you will think why not bring it to repair shop, in my place where i live bring a hardware issue to the repair shop will only result either the problem unsolved because the dont now how to handle it, or it will become worse because they cant handle it, got scammed to buy they product like thermal paste with double the price, or send it to factory which i cant because i use it for work all time, or buy a new laptop.

i do hope HP higher ups or anyone there to help me with a solution without me throwing another cash because i got none of it now, but the chance are slim to non existence haha. what a bad luck i got haha, i even got kicked out of office because i cant render fast and good enough like before and accused to not working at all haha.

done all of that, no change at all. the only temporary solution i got is to lower resolution to 720p and graphic settings to low or medium which is a ridiculous solution, i bought this laptop because of it got a powerful rtx 3060 gpu compared to my old laptop with gtx 1050 ti gpu. but it perform worse to my old laptop because of fps drop and stuttering, thats why i stated in this post that i feel scammed by HP.
