HP ENVY x360 - 15z-bq100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy (Bang & Olfsen) displays a black screen when I go to power it on. Power LED is on and I can hear the system running. This computer has Windows 10, seeing that I am only now able to spend time messing with it, and it was still displaying a black screen before updates were available. I have tried resetting the device (holding the power button for 15 seconds and rebooting), removing the battery and starting the device with power cord only, plugging the device into a television via HDMI cord, removing and reinstalling the memory cards, and the controls Windows+B+power. It is still displaying a black screen. The first time after I removed the battery and ran it with the power cord only a reboot menu came up visually and I was able to select reboot. However,  I cannot get this menu to come up again and it did not appear to fix the issue. Please help!

Hello @User5317811 ,

I understand that the screen remains black after you turn on your device.

I would like to help you but I need a few more information:

  • Does the screen remains black or blank?
  • Can you see LED lights blinking?
  • Have you tried using F4 (or FN + F4) key while using external display?
  • Does the fans speed up while holding the Windows + B key combination?

Meanwhile I would recommend you to reset the CMOS. On some devices you can do it by pressing and holding the Windows key and the V key while the device is powered off, then turning the device on while still holding the Windows and V keys.

On other devices you need to remove the CMOS battery to reset the CMOS. Please refer to your device manual to do it.

Let me know if that helped.

I do not work for nor do I represent HP.

Take care.
