Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17m-ch1000 (436X2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Screen goes black, can still view on hdmi screen. Worked with HP tech all the way to reinstalling operating system. Was not able to reinstall due to not being able to see what was on the screen. External screen would not work during reinstall process. Now sending to HP to repair. This computer was only 2 months old. Note: I could see an image on the laptop screen if I shined a light on it at the right angle.

@MikeW998, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the display screen is not working. It seems like a hardware issue or a loose connection of internal wires as per your description of the issue.

The Notebook has to be serviced.
