HP ENVY Laptop - 17-cg0008ca

Web camera not found. I get the "nocamerasareattached" error in the camera app.

Based on the support tips here I uninstalled it from the Device Manager.

I does not reinstall on reboot.

The camera does not appear anywhere in the Device Manager now.

I have the latest windows updates.

I have the latest firmware.

The HP PC Hardware DIagnostics app crashes every single time I use it.

I go to the support site on HP and try to find a webcam driver. There is no driver listed.

Hi @mytrilife

It sounds like your HP ENVY Laptop - 17-cg0008ca is facing multiple issues with the webcam and the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics app.

Here are some steps to address these problems:

Webcam Issue:

Check Webcam Settings in BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Look for an option related to the webcam (e.g., "Integrated Camera" or "Webcam"). Ensure it is enabled.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters.
  • Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.

Install Generic Webcam Driver:

  • Open Device Manager and click Action > Add legacy hardware.
  • Follow the wizard to manually install a generic webcam driver.

Check for Hidden Devices:

  • In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices. If the webcam appears, right-click and enable it.

Update Drivers Using HP Support Assistant:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics App Crash:

Reinstall the App:

  • Uninstall the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics app and download the latest version from the HP Support website.

Run as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the app and select Run as Administrator. This can resolve permission-related issues.

Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Disable any antivirus or security software temporarily and try running the app again.

Use UEFI Diagnostics:

  • If the Windows-based diagnostics tool continues to crash, use the UEFI diagnostics tool. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly during startup, then select Diagnostics from the menu.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
