Hi @ASH914

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your HP Envy screen is flickering with black horizontal lines—it’s distracting and can make everyday use uncomfortable.

Let’s walk through a clean recovery to help restore smooth, stable visuals.

Step-by-Step: Fix Screen Flickering on HP Envy (Lower Half, Horizontal Lines)

1. Reset the Graphics Driver

  • Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B.
  • You’ll hear a brief beep and the screen will blink—this resets the graphics driver.

This is a safe, quick way to refresh display output without restarting your system.

2. Check for Display Driver Updates

  • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics driver (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) > Update driver > Search automatically.
  • Restart your PC after the update.

Flickering often stems from outdated or corrupted drivers.

3. Roll Back the Display Driver (if issue started recently)

  • In Device Manager, right-click the display adapter > Properties > Driver tab.
  • Click Roll Back Driver (if available).
  • Follow prompts and restart.

If the flickering began after a recent update, rolling back may restore stability.

4. Adjust Display Refresh Rate

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings.
  • Under Refresh rate, select a lower value (e.g., 60 Hz).
  • Apply changes and observe the screen.

Some panels flicker at higher refresh rates due to hardware limitations.

5. Run HP Display Diagnostics

  • Open the HP App on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Tap your device > Tools > Display Test.
  • Follow on-screen instructions to check for panel or GPU faults.

This tool helps isolate whether the issue is hardware or software related.

6. Test in Safe Mode

  • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • Go to Boot tab, check Safe boot, and restart.
  • Observe if flickering persists in Safe Mode.

If the issue disappears, it’s likely caused by a third-party app or driver.

Let me know how the screen responds after trying these steps. You’ve done the right thing by reaching out—and I’ll help you get back to a crisp, flicker-free display.
