I came across this issue for a client of mine and realized that a lot of other folks have the problem. I've not seen a solution yet (and those HP "support" folks don't even seem to pay attention to the details of the posts) but feeling I had narrowed it down to a "tablet mode" issue, I started digging deeper into the drivers and solved the problem.

** To make sure this is your issue, restart your computer in SAFE MODE - (search for "Advanced Startup" in your search bar and click on system settings option, under "Advanced Startup" select "Restart Now". If booting into Safe Mode fixes your problem, this will help you!

If you're running Windows 10

 - Boot back into Windows normally. Go to Device Manager and disable the "AMD Sensor Fusion Hub" under System Devices. If you have an Intel chipset, you should select the Intel Sensor driver instead.

 - Reboot! Your keyboard and touchpad should be working again. However, they will NOT be disabled if you switch to "tablet mode". You're out of luck there. Blame whoever designed these sensors.'

If you're running Windows 11 (they made it stinkier...)

- Boot back into Windows normally. You're going to need to DISABLE the AMD UMDF Sensor driver. Unfortunately, the only way this seems to be possible is if you delete or rename the actual sensor driver file under System 32. I'm not going to give exact instructions on how to do this, you can find them by searching.

- Once you've renamed or deleted the driver file for the AMD UMDF Sensor, go back under Device Manager and disable it to keep it from being updated. Note that it might be reenabled after a major update.

- Reboot and you're good to go!
