Hi all,
I have a Envy x360 (2023) laptop with i7-1250u CPU
The CPU/GPU is:
https://www.intel.de/content/www/de...-12m-cache-up-to-4-70-ghz/specifications.html
The laptop only offers 2 x USB C with Thunderbolt 4 as video output.
I want to connect the laptop to my 8K TV and then use it for work.
TV: Samsung GQ55QN700C (2023)
I only use huge Excel spreadsheets and occasionally a browser to do some research on the internet.
So nothing that would put a lot of strain on the Iris Xe graphics unit, even in 8K.
I have an HDMI 2.1 to USB-C cable here, but I can't get more than 3840x2160 on the screen.
I guess because of this GPU/CPU specification:
Max. Resolution (HDMI)‡
4096 x 2304 @ 60Hz
The 1250u is capable of 8K via DP, but my TV (work monitor) only offers HDMI 2.1
Is there still a way to get the 8K resolution on the screen?
According to Intel, the Ultra 7-155u should manage the resolution via HDMI 2.1 FLR.
https://www.intel.de/content/www/de...-12m-cache-up-to-4-80-ghz/specifications.html
Max. Resolution (HDMI)‡
4096 x 2304 @ 60Hz (HDMI 2.1 TMDS)
7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz (HDMI2.1 FRL)
I would like to avoid buying an external graphics card or a new laptop with Core Ultra 7-155u.

First, buy a DisplayPort 1.4 compatible display, with 8k screen and you can not use that TV hardware does not allow , it is impossible, high investment to use 8 K

Hi @jca99
According to the service manual the HDMI is version 2.0 and supports up to 4K.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
- HDMI 2.0 output up to 4 K @ 60 Hz with HDCP2.2 via adapter
then according to the SPECIFICATIONS THE hdmi of this TV is not 8K but 4K.
