HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ey0000 (54J83AV)

I was using my laptop and the screen went black. I had to reboot and now it won't recognize the external monitor that is plugged into the HDMI port.

Here's a video from HP Support about setting up displays using two or more monitors:

Thank you for the video but the computer is not detecting the monitor. I have tried connecting the computer to 2 other monitor set ups (one in my husbands office and another at work). The laptop won’t recognize any of them. It shows “no external monitor detected”. I connected it with an HDMI that was working before it shut off. I  also tried connecting through 2 different docking stations. I have update all software.

Sometimes, connecting more than one monitor is the issue.  So, I would try connecting only one monitor and seeing if both of them will work, one at a time.  I know that limits you to one monitor, but that is better than none.
