HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B33AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

We bought a HP Laptop 17-by4055cl with Touchscreen Multi-touch enabled, but has never worked properly.  After repeated visits to the support web site as well as a three-day phone call with technical support, we still have no touchscreen.  Any fix is completely temporary and the driver ALWAYS goes away or is ghosted with no way to reinstall nor enable.  Has anyone had any luck with anything other than restore back to factory settings?  We have restored the laptop numerous times, which does temporarily fix the problem, but then ANY update through windows causes it to disappear again.  I cannot reach anyone at HP without having to be on the phone for days on end and they refuse to replace the computer.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, @UnhappyCamper3  did you recently upgrade to Windows 11?

Yes, but note that ANY update causes the touchscreen driver to disable and go hidden with no enable/reinstall option and when I try to restore from Windows updates, there's no driver shown to update.  There's an ongoing error on the hard drive with an "unknown" USB port that I suspect might be the problem, but no amount of troubleshooting or updating through HP nor Windows has any effect.
