HP Laptop 14-ep0063c1
My wife has a Zoom account. She started a session and then invited people, which resulted in a link which we copied onto a jump drive and ported to this computer. When we open the link we can see her computer, but both computers only see the "Mirror image" icon on this computer's screen. We have tried starting video to no avail and have checked video settings (including advanced settings) and all are as they should be. We have reset/reloaded the video app. We've run most of the HP UEFI diagnostics (most of which don't have anything to do with a problem like this). We have uninstalled the app in Device Manager and rebooted the machine. We have ejected the jump drive and taken it to another computer, opened the link and had it work perfectly, so this is something unique to this computer.
Thanks for any helpful suggestions! We bought the computer a year ago and failed to register it with HP, but when we just did we got a message saying we have 5 days (now 4 days) left on our warranty). If this forum can't provide a solution soon, we will initiate a warranty return.

Initiate warranty just to be sure it is acknowledged by HP.
I am unsure what the problem it. Does the camera work when you run diagnostics? if not then return for repair.
Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty
If the component is not tested then possibly it is in the updated version of UEFI diagnostics.
HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically. When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics. There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS', Expand the '+' symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button. The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button. When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one. |
If the WebCam passed diagnostics ---
1 - enter "camera" in the windows search box. An error message may appear. If so, click "Get Help". If there is no "Get Help" then read this article.

2 - Look at the keyboard function keys for a camera icon such as
|
if you see anything like that the press it and see if the camera starts working. It could also be a physical device such as a switch or a cover that closes over the lens. Some AIOs have an On Screen Display and that might have camera control for on/off. I do not have your particular system so am guessing.

Thank you to BeemerBiker for the helpful suggestions. I had done most of what you suggested already and the couple of things you suggested that I had not tried didn't seem to help. We bought our computer from Costco and we asked them about the warranty and learned that HP provides one year of warranty and Costco extends that to two years. So we are pursuing the warranty route.
Best regards,
