Hi all,
I have got a HP 14s-dq0500sa which I am having problems with in that the display is not working.
Computer side working ok and at the of typing, I have this connected to an external monitor hence.
I have performed a full anti-virus sweep+Spyhunter+Reghunter_refreshed the graphics driver file downloaded from the HP web site. Run trouble shooting etc etc.
Suspect that the display may be kaput but before I commit to that, does anybody on this forum have any other ideas I can try out?
Thanks and regards
Steve R

No image on an external monitor could be any of four things: video driver, video jack, cable. monitor.
If you plug the monitor into another PC and it does not display, it could be either or both of the last two.
You would have to change cables to rule that out as the issue.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me, I should have mentioned that this is a laptop (my bad)
video driver - up to date
video jack - can get image to external monitor but not integrated onboard monitor
cables - all ok
monitor - external only.
All other possible diagnostics that I know of and standard fixes tried.
Tempted to re-boot in safe mode but if I loose external, possibly game over.
Thanks and regards

Sorry I missed that this is a laptop -- but since you already hooked up an external monitor, you have ruled out the video chipset as the problem -- and that leaves only the laptop display panel You would need to get this replaced, and since HP does not do repair replacements, you would need to find a laptop repair shop to do it -- but be sure to get an estimate up front because these repairs are VERY expensive and can easily cost more than replacing the laptop.
Good Luck
