I have an HP Laptop and I'm trying to connect to an HP docking station to use two additional monitors but my laptop isn't detecting the docking station.

Hi @Wstrayer1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your laptop is unable to detect the docking station I would request you to please follow the below steps which should fix the issue.

Restart Both Devices:

  • Disconnect the docking station from the laptop and power down both the laptop and the docking station. Restart the laptop first, followed by reconnecting the docking station.

Update Drivers:

  • Verify that all the necessary drivers, especially the Thunderbolt and USB drivers, are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support & Drivers .

Check Docking Station LED Indicators:

  • Refer to the docking station LED indicators to diagnose any signs of connectivity issues. For example, a blinking red light may indicate a docking station failure that needs resetting or further troubleshooting.

Dock Configuration Page:

  • Access the dock configuration page via a web browser to update the firmware or check for any configuration issues. Establish a wireless connection to the docking station and navigate to the dock's local URL for settings adjustments.

Using External Monitors:

  • After connecting, configure your monitor settings in Windows:
    • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display Settings"
    • Ensure the monitors are detected, and choose to extend, duplicate, or show the desktop only on specific monitors as per your setup.

Resetting the Docking Station:

  • If the above steps do not solve the problem, consider resetting the docking station by following instructions in the user guide.

Disable WLAN Connection:

If there is a conflict between LAN and WLAN connections, disable the WLAN connection:

  • For Windows 10: Right-click [Start] and select [Network Connections]. Right-click [Wi-Fi] and click [Disable].
  • Follow similar steps for other Windows versions as needed.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
