Hi

To me a loose cable does not seem likely for these two reasons

- it always behaves perfectly once it starts up correctly. 

- the restart or hard reset always corrects it. 100% so far in 3 weeks of use since the problem arose.

In either of these cases a loose cable would surely manifest itself at some point other than start up.

This is not a laptop that has a hard life either - it pretty much stays in the same position on a desk all the time.

Are there any other suggestions please?

Let me check your basic system configuration.

 

(1) Run    msinfo32

- Select <System Summary>:

--->>> Copy/screenshot/paste following key/value pairs:

 

OS Name

Version

System Model

System SKU

( equals HP product number (p/n) )

Processor

BIOS Version/Date

 

(2) Start Windows <Device Manager>

- Expand <Display adapters>

- Expand <Monitors>

--->>> Send screenshot

 

(3Please report your results

I've done but those updates and the issue appears fixed. 

I'll leave the thread open over the weekend so that I can test some more, but looking good so far.

I'm happy to say this is now resolved. I've used the Laptop multiple times since the updates and the screen problem has disappeared. My HP is back meeting expectations.
