HP Pentium 8GB 2TB Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP Pentium 8GB 2TB Notebook. product code: N7J55EA.

This evening, my screen did this weird thing. It looked like a line across my screen did this weird flash thing. It was for a second and i wasn't sure what it was, so i moved my monitor back and forth. That is when my monitor went dim. The top right hand corner is dimmer than the top left hand corner, but both sides have lost a big of light. The bottom half is fine.

I tried restarting the laptop, shutting it off and on again, no success. I took out the charger and increased the brightness with f3 and no success. I suspect some sort of bulb in my monitor blew, but its a assumption i cannot confirm.

How do i better understand what is going on? What test can i do?

I did a power drain and issue is still there. I did a component test. 3 passed, but i had to fail one as it asked if all my screen was RED and it was not. The top right corner was grey/black (the dim issue). I went into BIOS and issue still there. Points towards a HAEDWARE issue. What is the issue and how to fix it?

In 2017, my RAM slot (8GB) failed and I had it replaced / reinstalling windows 10 via USB. More details here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Automatic-repair-loop/m-p/6077642#M111330

@JohnTen
Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. As you've performed relevant troubleshooting steps and the display issue persists in BIOS, which is outside windows. It would confirm a hardware failure.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/
