Hello,

I have been experiencing screen tearing on my computer while I am playing games. I have tried different things such as going into the NVIDIA Control Panel and changing some options however I am still getting screen tearing. I have talked to HP Support and they suggested that I should Recover my computer which means I will be completely wiped. Due to the amount of time that would be needed to reinstall all of the games that I have on my computer I would rather not do that.

Are there any other ways that could stop the screen tearing or is it best that I just Recover my computer and have to reinstall everything?

Thanks

Hello @Cattipillar

I would do a reinstall only as a last resort.

You didnt mention what adjustments you have done specifically.

Did you enable Vsync in both the Nvidia panel and in the games settings?

Did this happen only recently or since the laptop was new? When did it start?

Did you try disabling Full Screen Optimizations in the Properties panel of the games exe file?

Sometimes it will help.

Navigate to the Programs folder (or Programs X86) and find the games startup up exe file.

Right click on it and open Properties.

Select the Compatibility Mode tab.

Tick the box for disabling full screen optimizations.

Okay, sorry about that.

I had help from someone at HP who helped me with the issue which is still ongoing. He changed some of the stuff on my PC to try and stop the screen tearing but due to my settings being reset, I forgot to enable V-Sync again in the NVIDIA control panel. I have enabled that now and I have also enabled V-Sync in the game and that means no screen tearing!

Does this mean that as long as I have the V-Sync option enabled on my games there will be no screen tearing?

Thanks.

Not sure I understand you. Did you enable it in both and try it yet?if it works, then you'll have keep it that way. If you have access to an external monitor, try that also and compare.
