OMEN HP 15-dc1524na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, not sure if this is normal behaviour for this model, but when playing videos saved on the SSD, the audio and video come out of sync until after a few minutes, the audio will freeze until the video catches up.

Sometimes -- relatively rarely, but still more frequent than I'd like, if I am using my laptop for anything else while a video is playing in the background, the audio may stutter, and the video will pixelate, as if there's a read error.

Playing video also seems to make the laptop surprisingly hot to the touch (just above the OMEN logo on the casing above the keyboard).

These videos are usually 1080p quality, and some are SD -- mostly offline youtube videos, so it's not like they should be taxing something designed for gaming. I've tried VLC player, GOM, MPC-HC and all behave the same.

Has anybody seen this before? Might it be an issue with the SSD? I've used lots of SSDs before and never had any such reading issue... any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi@Ambrosewoofs, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps:

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

(a) Download the following driver and save it on your computer,

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100001-100500/sp100450.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall the sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
(c) Right-click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
