Hello,

I am here to complain about outdated drivers for HP OmniBook Ultra.

The HP only offers drivers from Jan 25, but it's already May 26 and while AMD is releasing driver updates regularly, HP is not supporting it's products.

I was happy with my purchase, but the missing support is making me think about buying HP product in the future.

The drivers from AMD official website do not work with message it's OEM locked. I did not find any other solution than to wait for HP.

It's really sad considering this laptop was released not even 2 years ago and mine is still in warranty.

This situation is even more frustrating because I am having issues that new drivers would fix. I have submitted several AMD crash reports but if HP is not going to update the drivers, then it's not very effective. How can HP justify not releasing drivers for a product that cost more than $1500 while also restricting installing drivers from GPU manufacturer website? It's even more outraging considering 880M and 890M were newly released GPU's where it's expected to be more unstable than the previous generation of GPUs.

I am getting even more aggravated while writing down all the facts and if HP isn't going to do something soon, me and many more people having the same problem, will reconsider buying HP products again.

There are many support threads here and on other PC-related forums where people get disappointed over the lack of newer drivers!

Hi @dv1212

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand your frustration regarding the outdated GPU drivers for your HP OmniBook Ultra. You’ve highlighted that AMD continues to release updates while HP’s OEM-locked drivers haven’t been refreshed since January, and this is impacting your experience despite the laptop being under warranty. The fact that newer GPUs like the 880M/890M are more prone to instability — this helps us recognize the seriousness of the issue and the importance of timely driver support."

  1. Go to the HP Software and Drivers page for your HP OmniBook Ultra model. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  2. Check for the latest GPU driver listed for your product.
  3. Also run Windows Update and install any available driver updates.
  4. If the HP support page still shows an older version, check back regularly because HP states newer versions might become available later. https://support.hp.com/au-en/products
  5. Use only HP-supported updates for your exact model to help ensure compatibility and stability.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello Pallipurath,

thank you for the message.

Unfortunately the latest drivers are still from Jan 25 and are bundled in update from HP from Jun 25.

In the mean time I moved to Linux.

Please everyone who faces similar issues from outdated drivers, upvote the post to raise awareness.

Thank you.

Hi @dv1212

Thank you for responding.

Please be informed that the graphics card driver needs to be updated. At present, the latest drivers available on the HP website are the only ones provided. I will take this as feedback and share it with the team. However, I regret to inform you that you will need to wait until new driver updates are released. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
