Hi HP Support,
I’ve been facing a couple of issues with my HP Pavilion 15 Gaming Notebook running Windows 11, and I’d really appreciate some help.
Issue 1 – Camera Not Detected & Heating
Since October 2024, the camera has not been working. It shows up as “Camera not attached” in Windows. This issue started right after an official motherboard replacement done by HP. Additionally, I’ve noticed that the camera area heats up regularly whenever the laptop is on, even though the camera itself remains unusable.
Issue 2 – Screen Flickering
Just today, a new problem appeared—the screen randomly flickers up and down. It’s not tied to any specific application or action and seems to happen out of nowhere.
Other Details:
- No physical damage has ever occurred to the laptop.
- I’ve already tried:
- Updating all available drivers, including the camera and GPU
- Clearing the entire C drive
- Ensuring Windows is fully updated
Despite all this, the issues persist.
Please let me know what steps I can take next, or if this could be hardware-related again. Thank you.
Best,
Ereen

If the camera is not detected after a motherboard replacement, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Check Device Manager:

- Look for the Cameras section and see if the camera is listed. If it's listed but with a yellow exclamation mark, it indicates a problem with the driver.
Update Drivers:
- Navigate to HP Support.

- Select Software, Drivers, and Firmware.
- Choose your Operating System (Windows 11) and version, then click Submit.
- Expand All Drivers, find the Camera driver, and download the latest version.
- Install the driver and restart your notebook.
Issue 2 – Heating Up
If your notebook is overheating, follow these steps to avoid hardware damage:
Check Vents and Clean Fans:
- Ensure that the notebook's air vents are not blocked. Use compressed air to clean the fans and vents.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Click Additional power settings under Related settings.
- Select the Balanced power plan and choose Change plan settings.
- Adjust the advanced power settings to lower the maximum processor state to reduce heat generation.
