Product: HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 IDS Base Model

I have a HP 15 EG200 laptop that has just recently stopped working with my G5 docking station.  For the longest time, I was able to use the docking station between this computer and a HP zBook with no issues.  Recently, the monitor is not connecting with the 15 EG200 laptop, but everything else does work, mouse, keyboard, headset, power and a wired internet connection.  It connects briefly to the monitor, then stops.  The laptop does recognize that the monitor is connected as I can see and change settings on both the laptop and the monitor.  any idea why this is happening and how to fix it so that I do not need to plug in the monitor directly into the laptop?
