I recent bought a new HP Pavilion 16 and the internal camera cannot be found by any software or by the computer itself in Settings. The Camera itself is open. The Mic and Audio internally both work as they should. Even when searching for cameras the internal one is not recognized and there is no indication that it is on.

Hi @HDport82222,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 16's internal camera is not being recognized by the operating system or any software, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Device Manager
First, check if the camera is detected by Windows in the Device Manager:
Open Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Alternatively, you can press Windows + X and choose Device Manager from the menu.
Look for Imaging devices:
- Expand the category labeled Imaging devices or Cameras.
- See if your internal camera is listed there. It might be listed under a specific manufacturer name or as "Integrated Camera" or similar.
Update drivers:
- If the camera is listed but has a yellow exclamation mark or is not functioning, right-click on it and choose Update driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.
Check Privacy Settings
Ensure that the camera privacy settings in Windows are configured correctly:
- Open Settings:
- Go to Start > Settings (gear icon).
- Privacy settings:
- Select Privacy.
- On the left side, choose Camera.
- Make sure that Allow apps to access your camera is turned On.
- Scroll down and ensure that individual apps are also allowed to access the camera if needed.
Check for Physical Switches or Function Keys
Some laptops have physical switches or function keys (like Fn + F10) to enable or disable the camera. Check your laptop's manual or HP website to see if there's a specific switch or key combination for the camera.

Update BIOS and Drivers
Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and all drivers (especially the camera driver) are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from HP's support website for your specific model.
Run Hardware Troubleshooter
Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and resolve common hardware issues:
- Open Settings and go to Update & Security.
- Choose Troubleshoot from the left pane.
- Under Find and fix other problems, select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.
Check Antivirus or Security Software
Sometimes, antivirus or security software can block access to the camera. Temporarily disable such software (if safe to do so) and check if the camera works.
Test in Safe Mode
Boot your laptop into Safe Mode and check if the camera works there. If it does, it could indicate a conflict with third-party software or drivers.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with your HP Pavilion 16's internal camera not being detected by the OS or software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I installed the latest drivers and BIOS and it did not appear anywhere. Nothing appeared on the troubleshooter either. The only antivirus I have is McAfee, which came with the laptop. In Device Manager there is no dropdown for Cameras at all.
