I purchased a HP Pavilion 15T laptop, and only afterwards did I realize it did not have an HDMI port. I wanted to connect my laptop to a HDMI monitor. Under the spec page, it states it has USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate). I was told by an HP rep that I can use the HP USB-C to HDMI adapter and it would connect the laptop to the monitor, But I also read some reviewers stating that it did not work. Im a bit concerned since the spec page states that the USB-C is data transfer only. Does anyone know if I would be able to connect the laptop to a monitor using the HP brand USB-C to HDMI adapter? Thank you.

In this case, USB-C to HDMI cable won't work because USB-C port does not support Alt mode. I need to know model/product of your machine. Please use the following way to find out

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
