So I have an HP Pavilion x360 that has a couple of issues. The major one is that after about 15 minutes or so the cursor disappears. I can only get it back by doing ctrl+alt+del > task manager, or fn + F5, F7, or F9.

The Touchpad Enable/Disable Key is set to enable.  I've restarted it a number of times, but the cursor keeps disappearing. I have also tried to update the drivers and ran windows updates a few times, but nothing seems to work. After all of that, if I let the laptop sit idle for a bit, the cursor disappears and is difficult to get back.

I also am having issues with the touchscreen not working. but the screen has a long crack in it, so I'm going with that being the culprit on this particular issue.

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @KnightLife,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Your HP Pavilion x360 cursor disappearing issue is usually linked to touchpad driver glitches or Windows 11 settings conflicts.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Mouse & Touchpad Settings

Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse and Touchpad.

Make sure your touchpad is enabled (if you’re using one).

Under Additional Mouse Options, check if there’s any setting that might be hiding or affecting your cursor.

Reinstall/Update Mouse Drivers

Open Device Manager.

Look for Mice and other pointing devices, and right-click on your mouse or touchpad.

Select Uninstall device and restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.

If that doesn’t work, try right-clicking the mouse/touchpad in Device Manager and selecting Update Driver.

Check for Hidden Cursor via Ease of Access

Sometimes the cursor gets hidden through Ease of Access settings.

Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Mouse pointer.

Make sure the pointer isn’t set to be hidden.

Run System File Checker

Open Command Prompt as an Administrator (right-click and select Run as administrator).

Type in the following command: sfc /scannow

Let it run and repair any corrupted system files.

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, the issue might be with a particular version of a Windows update or driver update that hasn’t been properly installed.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and see if there are any pending updates.

Rollback the Driver

Since the issue started after a hardware update, you could try rolling back the driver to a previous version:

Go to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices.

Right-click your mouse or touchpad and select Properties.

Under the Driver tab, see if there's an option to Roll Back Driver. If so, try rolling it back to an earlier version.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Ok, so I checked the Mouse & Touchpad settings, and touchpad was enabled, and I didn't see anything that would suggest the cursor getting hidden or something that might affect it.

Tried updating the touchpad driver, but it said current version is up to date. I'm a tad warry of uninstalling it, because what if it doesn't automatically reinstall?

Ease of Access looks good as well.

Ran a bunch of windows updates, even reinstalled windows.

If the cursor still disappears later today, I will try rolling back the drivers.

Hi @KnightLife,

Thank you for getting back.

Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

Confirms whether the touchpad hardware is detected at firmware level.

Power on > Press Esc repeatedly > F2 > Component Tests

Please refer to this link

Run the Touchpad test

If the test option is missing or fails, it indicates hardware fault

Let me know how it goes.
