Every time I use the touch screen, or use the trackpad to scroll the screen goes black like it went to sleep. If I move the mouse the screen turns back on and acts normal. It only started happening the last two days, but I can't name a specific event that could have triggered it like an update. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @acook8,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having an issue with the laptop screen goes black while using the touch screen or using the touchpad. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the Product number and the Operating system installed on the PC? (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...) http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Have you tried to make any changes on the PC before the issue started?

Have you done all your Windows updates?

Have you tried to run HP Support Assistant?

In the meantime, while you respond to this post. Let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, Chipset drivers and graphics card drivers for your PC from our HP Support website, using this link.

You could also update the drivers using Windows update, HP PCs - Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 😎

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

I would also test for hardware failures just to rule that out.  HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 10, 😎

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

So I got a Window's update and now the problem is fixed, so I don't know exactly what was causing the issue, but my computer is now working properly.
