I have an HP laptop, and when I plug in an external monitor it works, but the internal screen does not work and is not detected when I try to do it. One time, I left it on the charger for a long time. I opened the laptop, and the screen was working for a sec. Windows was loading up, but the he loading circle was glitched out. When it was done loading, the screen turned back off, and then there was a bunch of random Orange lines on my external monitor.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Is the LCD on the Laptop fine? and does the Laptop work fine without the monitor?

Do check the monitor with an alternate Laptop to check if it works.

I don’t know about the LCD, but the laptop turns on when it is unplugged from the monitor, but no display. I tried a different PC and the monitor worked. Anyway, since the actual laptop works, and the screen doesn’t, do you think it is possible it needs a new screen?
