Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a HP laptop x360 and purchased a second external monitor EliteDisplay S140U to allow for dual monitors. However, my laptop is not detecting the second monitor. Wondering if my x360 graphics card will not allow for dual monitors. Please help.

Hi,

I've been doing a lots of testing. I've got a dozen of laptops around me and just P-n-P using HDMI cables (few versions) to connect to 21" to 24" monitors (few brands) and TV's (two 65" Panasonic and one 40" Sanyo) but a 2 days old machine (HP x360)  kept me busy 15mins when plugging it to an external monitor.

Please try my way:

(a) Turn off machine and monitor,

(b) Connect HDMI cable,

(c) Turn them back, monitor first,

(d) Goto settings and click detect,

You may have to try few times.

Regards.

I went into HP Update and found two software upgrades. One was for RealTek audio and the other was for BIOS. Downloaded the two updates and rebooted. I selected the "detect monitor" feature and it still would not detect my monitor. However, my second monitor worked but duplicated my laptop screen. I noticed that a dropdown box towards the bottom of the display settings page that allowed me to change my view to "extended" and bam, I am in business.  Any way, that is my experience and hope this post helps someone.
