HP Spectre x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

To any that might be able to help.

I have recently acquired a HP Pen (1MR94AA#ABL) to connect to my laptop (Model: HP Spectre x360 Convertible, Product: N1R85UA#ABA). As others have noticed the simple instructions of installing the battery and touching the screen to get it to work isn't as easy as advertised. So here have been my trouble shooting steps.

  1. I have confirmed the AAAA battery has a full voltage. It's a good battery from the box
  2. The Pen is new from HP and was recommended by a sales associate from HP, via chat, specifically for this model.
  3. Multiple HP threads have led me to update/check the status of the following things
    1. Ensure HP support and Performance tools are install. Updated all possible systems from this
    2. Perform all windows updates
    3. Perform a BIOS update
    4. Update graphics driver
    5. Update/Remove/Reinstall HID touch driver, HID Pen driver, and HID keyboard driver from device manager, all with restarts after them
    6. Install HP Pen Control Tool
    7. Check for other firmware updates.
    8. Check input device settings Pen settings, tried to do the tablet pen setup...

None of these have worked for me and I am looking like I am out of options from what's on the web. So to repeat, I specifically had HP recommend a pen for me, I have used every support tool possible from the web, checked over half a dozen if not more support threads, with a ton of broken links, and unfortunately am now here to request further assistance. Any help is very much appreciated for those that might know how to get this pen to work.

I don't know.

One more thing to check...

Did you perhaps lose the tiny spring located inside the pen case?

Documentc05426255: HP Pen - Stylus Not Working, Battery Rattles Inside the Pen

Stylus:  HP Pen (1MR94AA)

Description:  This document pertains to the pen, HP part number 920241-001, shipped with the HP Spectre 13 X360 and 15 X360.  The pen (HP part 920241-001) supplied with affected computers may not work and the battery may be loose (rattling) inside the stylus.  This can occur after removing the certification label from the pen; the label may adhere to the negative ground spring and pull it out of the pen cap.

Spring is still in place. Thanks for the sanity check though
