HP Pen

My HP Pen has stopped working recently. The pen cursor will suddenly stop appearing when I attempt to use the pen on the screen, though the touch screen itself still works fine (I can write/draw/scroll with my finger). If I am lucky, I can get the pen to work for up to half an hour before it stops working again. I've had this pen for about four years, and it came with an HP Envy laptop that I bought at that time. I am no longer using that laptop, but I am still using the same pen with my new HP Envy.

In the past, my pen issues have always been caused by low battery. I use rechargeable batteries so I would just pop out the battery and swap it out for a charged one. Starting a few weeks ago, the pen stopped working randomly, no matter how charged the battery is. If I gave it a couple hours the pen might start working again for a brief time. I thought maybe the batteries weren't charging properly so I bought disposable batteries as well, but the pen still does not function properly. I've also tested all my batteries (rechargeable and disposable) with a different stylus pen (non HP), and that one worked just fine, so I know that the batteries are not the issue here.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the touch screen drivers as well, to no avail. My system is up to date. I've rebooted the laptop several times. Contacting support has been difficult and there is minimal information on the type of pen I use. I just really want to be able to use my pen again soon.
