Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Pro Book G9 is unresponsive/laggy when i remote into it and the lid is closed. I have done this on my previous HP laptops with no issues.

The laptop is connected to ethernet to my network.

When my lid is closed and i try to use window -  say i click 'task manager' the icon appears on my windows taskbar as if the program is open - but the window will not appear. If i click a browser, such as chrome, the icon shows on my task bar, but the window does not.  If i click the window 'start' button it does not pop up.

I should say my mouse moves and is visible remotely. Its just programs will not pop up. Alt-tabbing does nothing.

The strange thing is the moment i open my laptop lid, all the clicks i made with the lid closed are registered and everything suddenly opens (i.e task manager, chrome pop up, and the windows 'start' panel appears - all in sequence as if the laptop was registering these clicks and just waiting for me to open the lid).

I have changed the settings in windows under 'what happens when i close my lid' to DO NOTHING. So the laptop should behave the same.... but it does not.

Also tried to set the power plan to max performance, to see if some power saving measure was being implemented if it thought the laptop was not being used - but it doesnt help.

How do i fix this? i dont want to leave my laptop lid open 24/7.
