I have a work pc that I am trying to share with home monitors and looking to buy a 4k monitor for the home system but wondering if it will work with the work notebook HP ProBook 640 G2?
I realize it likely will not drive 4K resolution - just want to make sure it will be able to work and at what resolution, perhaps HD. I will use the 4K capabilities with my other home system. Just want to share the monitor periodically.
Kind regards

Based on its specs, it has
1 USB 3.0;
1 USB 3.0 charging;
1 USB Type-C™;
1 DisplayPort;
1 VGA;
1 headphone/microphone combo;
1 AC power;
1 RJ-45;
1 docking connector.
The DisplayPort version is 1.2 which supports video resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) at a refresh rate of 60Hz. Therefore the most easy and cheap way is to use DP on your machine to your 4K monitor as long as within 60Hz standard refresh rate.
Regards.
