HP ProBook G5 450 Display Upgrade

I have the HP G5 450 and I have the 1366x768 display and I really want to upgrade to 1920x1080, is this possible? If it is possble how could I upgrade it? 

I can't seem to remove the bezel of the screen.

Hi, I have the same question. Have bought a display with 1920x1080 resolution and install it on the laptop. But it remains black after turning on the power. Do I need also find screen cable for such type of screen?

Hi, I am also considering upgrading my HP Probook 450 G5 that came with the HD 1366x768 display panel.

I would like to upgrade to the FHD IPS 1920x1080 panel . I don't need touch screen.

Anybody that has succesfully done this that can chime in with some info on how it went and how hard it was, where they bought the part from...

@bogavante Hi there. YES! It is possible, I've done it (Probook 450 G5 HD to FHD display). Bought the item off eBay but there's plenty of places, google is your friend!

As far as I've read, there's only ONE type of screen connector cable for either the manufactured HD version or FHD version. So that is not an issue. See YouTube for vids on how to replace screen. It's straight forward but there is a small amount of double-sided adhesive/glue holding the platsic edge around the screen. with a bit of gentle prying it's not too bad to get free. See this video here. It's made to look easy but I think the screen has already been replaced on that laptop. First time it's a little harder. Start where he starts in the video - at the side.

Not sure why it didn't work for the other guy on this forum, but I can say first hand, it does!

Hope it helps and I've not put you off with the mention of it being stuck. It's not too difficult... in fact it is simple, once you have the sticky free, just four screws holding the edge at each corner. Just be sure to connect the 30 pin securely. Boot to windows, the HP bios screen comes up, then indeed, all does go black. Presumably because the drivers are updating. I have a finger print registered to my laptop, so just swiped it after a few seconds. Left the laptop to update/reconfigure itself for the new resolution for about 1 min, hold power button down for over 4 secs to completely power off, then reboot. Hey presto, all works fine.

Oh, and also, it was an IPS screen from standard. NOTE: contrast ratio of blacks on this cheap screen isn't great, but the colours and viewing angle are all good 🙂

After reading Reg66's message I tried one more time and wait until the laptop was reconfiguring. Finally, the new screen works perfectly. Thanks all 🙂
