Probook 445 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, in an environment where teachers move between classes, we had setup HP USB-C mini docks in every classroom for teachers to plug into to get access to a touchscreen display and ethernet. Recently, the school upgraded some laptops to HP Probook 445 G8s and they have been unable to work with the dock correctly. The display is all pixelated and distorted, but the touchscreen (connected through USB) and ethernet connection work fine through the dock. The displays are connected through HDMI.

I've done the standard troubleshooting on both the laptop and the dock:

Updated dock firmware/drivers

Updated laptop display drivers

Updated laptop BIOS

Changed display settings in windows

Swapped HDMI cables

Re-imaged laptop (on one occasion)

Since this environment has multiple Probook 445 G8s and USB-C mini docks, I've tested multiple of the probooks with multiple docks and displays with the same issue. The docks and displays work fine with other HP Probook and Elitebook models used.

Is there anything I'm missing? Are the docks and the new Probook model just not compatible?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

USB-C mini dock should work with 445 G8.

could you try to use a 65W power supply instead of the standard 45w ?

reason is to understand if USB-C dock get enought power to wrok correctly.

bye

Thanks for the suggestion, but we are already using a 65W power supply. I tired with a different one for good measure, still no change.
