HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K634AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I recently bought the HP Spectre x360 Laptop 14-eu0076no with Intel Arc graphics and have problems displaying 4K 120 Hz on my external monitors

I am using HDMI 2.1 to usb-c cables that are rated for 4K:

4K 60 Hz works fine but when i switch to 120 Hz the monitors get no signal

Is there some limitation with the Intel Arc graphics that prevent two 4K monitors at 120 Hz?

I tried connecting the computer to a Kensington md125u4 dock and with that it was possible to run two 4K monitors at 120Hz

Hi @piloten1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand there could be a few reasons why you're unable to display 4K 120Hz on your external monitors with your HP Spectre x360 Laptop 14-eu0076no:

1. Cable limitations: While your HDMI 2.1 to USB-C cables are rated for 4K, they might not support the full 4K 120Hz bandwidth. Double-check the cable specifications to ensure they explicitly mention supporting 4K 120Hz.

2. Monitor limitations: Verify if your external monitors themself support 4K 120Hz refresh rates. Consult their user manuals for confirmation. HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K634AV) User Manual

3. Laptop limitations: Although less likely, there's a slight possibility that the laptop's Intel Arc graphics might have limitations regarding driving two external monitors at 4K 120Hz simultaneously. You can check HP's official product page or user manuals for the laptop to see if there are any such specifications mentioned.

4. Software or driver issues: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers could also be causing the issue. Try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version from HP's website. Software and Drivers for HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 14-eu0023d (979L3UA)

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Try a different cable: Use a different high-quality HDMI 2.1 cable explicitly rated for 4K 120Hz to rule out cable limitations.
  • Connect only one monitor: Try connecting only one external monitor at a time to see if it displays 4K 120Hz. This will help isolate if the issue is with handling dual monitors simultaneously.
  • Update graphics drivers: Download and install the latest graphics drivers for your Intel Arc GPU from HP's website.
  • Check BIOS settings: In rare cases, some BIOS settings might affect display output. Consult your laptop's manual to see if there are any relevant display options in the BIOS that you can try adjusting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
