HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0122tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Plugging the power cord in or removing the power cord sends the screen black and then at random.  It only goes off for a few seconds but it's really disruptive when you're trying to get some work done.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @TMT2,
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you facing black screen issue on your HP Spectre X360 - 13-Aw0122tu.

Let’s try the power drain to discharge the static charges.
1> Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter.
2> Press and hold the F6 and power button for 20 seconds.
After the above steps, connect the power cable back and power on the laptop.

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you follow the steps listed below for BIOS recovery:
1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
4. The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.

Let me know if this works.
Take care and have a good day.
